| Last Days Of Steam On The Old Road | ||||||||
| Back in the early 1980's Tom Bailey and myself embarked on a project to record "the last days of steam on the Old Road." This was photographed on my HO scale railroad, a segment (in HO scale) of the original New York Central Old Road line from Adrian, Michigan to Lenawee Jct, Michigan. We decided to photograph several of Tom's NYC models on my layout, since it was "formerly" a NYC line. My model railroad was actually a shortline modeled in the 1980's, "sold off" by the Penn Central, but Tom and I backdated the scenes to represent the early to mid 1950's when steam expired down in Adrian. Attached are some representative photos from this project. The project could not have been successful without the superb craftsmanship that Tom put into his models. He also played a crucial role as the "lighting director" for the shoot. Being more railfan oriented, I wanted to shoot 3/4 "sun"...Tom nixed that right away, insisting that fans always encounter lighting conditions contrary to what they want! |
